Our Story
Why should South Africans pay more for denim made right here in Africa?
That question started Clutch.
After years working in the clothing supply chain, we saw something that didn't sit right with us, some of the best denim in the world is sewn right here, by skilled hands in African factories that supply top international brands. But that same denim got shipped overseas, while South African shoppers were stuck choosing between overpriced imports and cheap fast fashion that falls apart in a few washes.
So we decided to change that.
We partner directly with those same trusted African factories and bring the denim straight to you, no unnecessary middlemen, no inflated prices. Just well made jeans, jackets, dresses, and skirts, priced the way they should be for the people who live here.
For us, Clutch is about more than clothing. It's about being proud of what's made on our doorstep, and proving that great quality shouldn't come with an imported price tag.
Sustainability
At Clutch, every pair of jeans tells a story not just of style, but of responsibility.
We believe great denim shouldn't harm the earth or the people who make it.
We source our denim from factories that use 100% virgin cotton, ethically grown across BCI-certified regions and farms worldwide, supporting sustainable farming practices that protect the environment and improve the livelihoods of growers. Every pair of denim we work with is Oeko-Tex® certified, tested and proven safe from harmful substances for you, and for the planet.
But sustainability isn't just about materials. It's about people.
We hold every factory we work with to strict social and ethical standards: child labour–free, fair wages, and safe, respectful working conditions, no exceptions. Across Africa, our supply chain supports over 3,000 families, and we partner with local suppliers for trims, hardware, and other essentials backing a wider network of small businesses, artisans, and skilled workers.
We don't cut corners to protect our margins. We reinvest in quality, fair practices, and the people behind every garment, because the true cost of denim should never be measured in human or environmental harm.
With Clutch, you're not just wearing jeans. You're wearing a promise.
